Helen Novak Lauscher, PhD
Helen Novak Lauscher is Assistant Director of Research, Digital Emergency Medicine in the Department of Emergency Medicine at UBC. Her research foci include participatory community-based health research, digital health literacy, knowledge translation in health, and program evaluation. Her work with Digital Emergency Medicine at UBC involves leading an interdisciplinary research team working on projects related to: Technology-enabled innovations in health practice and education contexts; Multi-channel community engagement to support patient and family centred care; and digital health innovation and collaborative partnerships to support patients as they transition from acute to community contexts. This work includes collaboratively developing participatory, community-based program evaluation frameworks and models underpinned by the value of social accountability in health, and realizing the potential of research and evaluation as tools for engagement and capacity building with and for “communities” broadly defined
Helen holds a Doctorate in Educational Psychology with particular focus on human learning, development and culture. Her PhD research explored youth empowerment through creative expression and media production.
